Abstract |
Background. In the present economic situation, Russia needs to improve the competitiveness of the national economy. At present time there is no single methodo-logical approach in the theory and practice to evaluate the competitiveness of the region. Regional competitiveness level assessment is a tool to generate adequate stra-tegic management. Regions must develop its competitive advantages and create new ones.
Materials and methods. The study was based on statements and conclusions from scientific works by Russian and foreign scholars in the field of improvement of re-gional competitiveness, legislation, regulations and programs of the central federal and local authorities of the Russian Federation. The study used the materials of scientific and practical seminars and conferences. The study applied the methods of comparative analysis, the systematic approach, expert estimates.
Results. The author systematized methodical approaches to assessment of the regional competitiveness level, including the international methodology of comprehensive assessment of regional development. The researcher formulated the key challenges of building tech-niques of integrated assessment of regional competitiveness and proposed mechanisms of re-gional competitiveness assessment.
Conclusions. There are several key issues of building a methodology of inte-grated assessment of competitiveness of the subjects of the Russian Federation - in the methodology it is necessary to adequately take into account various specific fea-tures of the region; to ensure objectivity and reliability of the assessment procedure; to carefully select indicators of competitiveness assessment; to ensure the reproduci-bility of the developed methodology. The methods of competitiveness assessment should consist of simple, clear and unambiguous executable steps.
